Chesterton Windmill

Posted by Andrew Atkinson (Hartlepool, United Kingdom) on 12 August 2012 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

I've seen this windmill a few time when travelling, usually along the M40. have never had a chance to photograph it until now. I was travelling back from the family holiday in Dorset so didn't have much time.

A unique stone windmill, built on a circular arcade with six columns. Built in 1632-3 for Sir Edward Peyto, a local landowner. The mill worked until 1910. It contains wooden machinery including a lantern pinion and two pairs of millstones. Restored in 1971, and in the care of Warwickshire County Council. More Info

@Ian Bramham: Thanks Ian, it means a lot coming from you. I will be revisiting as I don't think I got the best from the location. I'm also going to post a few from Dorset which is a beautiful area.

Excellent long exposure Andrew, the sky has worked out beautifully, plenty of movement there.
